The Dreaded Eczema Itch

As an eczema sufferer, you know what I mean when I call eczema’s number one symptom the dreaded eczema itch.

The dreaded eczema itch can be triggered by many different factors.

Each of our own personal triggers is unique. Yours might be pet dander and mine might be simple dust. Another person’s trigger might be perfume.

What might cause an eczema flare up in one individual may not even bother another individual at all.

Each trigger sets off an allergic response in your body that eventually leads to the rash we know as eczema.

The irritation level rises sharply in some individuals to the point of you wanting to rip your poor skin to shreds…I’m sure you have experienced this type of irritation.

Fear not though, if you take the time to learn how to understand and recognize these factors or triggers, you can significantly reduce the impact that the condition of eczema can have on your life.

There are also several conditions that accompany eczema, such as dry skin, that if we learn to regulate will help greatly.

Although learning what triggers your eczema is crucial to controlling your eczema, learning How to Cure Eczema is best.

We have listed several tips below to help control your eczema itch and other symptoms and get the better of your eczema today.

Tip #1:  Control Your Dry Skin

While dry skin is a common symptom of eczema, do not overlook keeping it under control as a main strategy.

Dry skin may be the one main symptom that gives an eczema sufferer the biggest problem. It is what’s most irritating about eczema. Dry skin causes the unbearable eczema itch.

If you can combat the dry skin, you can go a long way to beating the itch too.

Keeping your skin moisturized is the key. Moisturizing right after a bath or shower is crucial and also moisturizing several times a day will help as well.

An important note is to not “rub” yourself with your towel after bathing. Pat or dab yourself dry will help in not irritating your skin further. Patting yourself dry will also help in locking the moisture in from the bath.

Tip #2:  Control Your Diet

The saying “You are what you eat” is still true, even though we feed our bodies as if it weren’t. You have no idea how much your diet affects not just your skin condition but also your overall health.

When we neglect and ignore the suggestion of eating a healthy diet, we turn our back on ever truly healing or curing our eczema from the inside out.

Frankly, without the right nutrients, your skin cannot heal itself. It needs some help from the food we eat, and without help from our diet, our eczema will only get worse.

Our How to Cure Eczema article will introduce you to a step-by-step plan that can get you on the road to eliminating your eczema from the inside out.

Tip #3:  Control Scents

Crazy as it sounds, the perfuming agents in many detergents, soaps, shampoos, body washes, etc., have terrible effects on your eczema.

Giving your toiletries an overhaul is one of the best things you can do to help control eczema outbreaks. Just changing over to unscented detergents, soaps, and so forth will do wonders.

A quick note about your clothing is to make sure and wash it “over” with your unscented wash detergent. Your clothes can carry “scents” for a long time!

Tip #4:  Control Clothing Content

When it comes to clothing, it can be one of the most common irritants.

Woolen or obviously “itchy” fabrics should be avoided.

Going with the 100% cotton fabrics usually will help control eczema flare ups greatly.

Yes, you might have to give up some of your “fashionable” clothing articles but would you rather be fashionable or have that constant eczema itch?

Give your wardrobe a cotton makeover and you will see tremendous improvement in your skin.

Although controlling eczema symptoms by controlling eczema triggers is advised, this will not cure your eczema.
